Your Chance
As the Operations Officer you will contribute to the delivery of educational services across all TAFE Queensland SkillsTech training centres by:
- providing administrative and functional support in relation to operations and facilities management activities; and
- assisting in the maintenance of a safe work environment as this relates to the services provided by the Operations team.
This position reports to the Operations Manager and will be required to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary Operations team.
This is a Temporary Full-Time opportunity, to 12 July 2027 unless otherwise determined.
The position will be based primarily at Acacia Ridge however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Operations Manager and Operations Coordinator to support a range of Region and TAFE Queensland projects with a focus on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of facilities, asset and inventory management.
- Process cleaning/trade consumables orders and undertake regular stocktakes, ensuring sufficient supplies for the cleaning and maintenance teams and the provision of advice/recommendations to the Operations Coordinator regarding the cost effective utilisation of consumable products.
- Undertake random sample audits of (and assist in, if required) the periodic asset stocktake, asset electricial testing and tagging, timber/steel stock levels and maintenance service records to ensure accuracy and provide any feedback on improvements, efficiencies or risks.
- Assist in the development, review and on-going monitoring of the portable tool repair process ensuring work health and safety risks are managed through use of lock out tags, regular pick ups and removal of surplus assets.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement through the establishment and maintenance of a Facilities and Operations Plan and Maintenance Records room; ensuring all manuals, site, building, floor plans and plant records are located in a central location, including historical service records and plant certifications.
- Assist in maintaining a safe work environment in relation to operations activities by conducting regular safety audits and equipment checks (Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); maintenance; Job Safety Environmental Analysis (JSEA’s); and chemical/hazardous storage), ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and TAFE Queensland and Region workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
- Utilise a range of computerised information systems and software applications including Footprints, Archibus, finance and human resource systems and Microsoft Office Suite for the purpose of generating reports and correspondence, and extracting, tracking and compiling data.
- Provide practical training and instruction to Region employees with regard to the correct and safe use of equipment.
- Provide assistance in daily activities and undertake tasks as required by the Operations Coordinator and Operations Manager.
- Contribute to the success of cultural change within the organisation through promoting and modelling the established TAFE Queensland values of Commerciality, Teamwork, Innovation and Accountability.

1. Sound knowledge, or the ability to acquire knowledge, of legislation, policy and procedures relevant to facilities and operations, workplace health and safety and general administrative functions.
2. Ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative working partnerships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
3. Proficiency in the use of a range of computerised systems and applications relevant to facilities and operations, including the ability to generate reports and extract and compile accurate and meaningful data.
4. Demonstrated communication and problem solving skills, including the ability to successfully impart knowledge.
5. Ability to effectively contribute to a high performing team, ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard within negotiated timeframes and proactively seeking and facilitating opportunities for self development.
