About the Role
AKA Electrical & Automation is seeking a capable and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys being actively involved in the practical delivery of projects—not just design.
You will be involved in all stages of project execution, including design, programming, installation support, and on-site commissioning. This role is ideal for someone who likes getting out on site, working with real equipment, and seeing projects through from concept to completion.
You will also be involved in breakdown support and troubleshooting, assisting customers in resolving faults and maintaining operational systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Design of automation systems including:
- Initial project concepts
- Machine safety risk assessments
- Specification of control systems and electrical equipment (sensors, switches, devices)
- Development of functional descriptions
- Review and oversee electrical drawings including schematics and related documentation
- PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming
- Robot programming
- Vision system configuration
- Commission automation systems on-site
- Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
- Verification of machine safety systems
- Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues
- Provide breakdown support to customers when required
- Work with customers to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions
- Support project delivery from concept through to commissioning
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
- Experience in industrial electrical or automation environments
- Solid understanding of control systems and electrical design
- PLC programming experience
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Current driver’s licence
- Willingness to work on-site and be involved in hands-on project work
Desirable
- Electrical licence (highly regarded – strong advantage for this role)
- Experience with robotics (ABB, KUKA, FANUC, etc.)
- SCADA system experience
- Experience with machine safety systems (AS 4024)
- Industrial networking knowledge (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus)
- Site commissioning experience
