We're partnering with a highly regarded government-affiliated organisation to find an experienced Archivist, who is passionate about preserving history, enabling discovery, and ensuring important stories remain accessible for generations to come.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership role where you'll combine strategic thinking with hands-on archival expertise. You'll oversee significant archival collections, lead projects that enhance access and preservation, and work closely with stakeholders across a complex and dynamic organisation.

12 months contract | Sydney location | Fulltime role | up to $85 per hour plus super

The Opportunity
You'll play a pivotal role in the stewardship of significant institutional archives, ensuring collections are managed, preserved, and made accessible in line with industry best practice.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading archival projects from planning through to delivery.
- Overseeing the appraisal, accessioning, arrangement, description, and management of archival records and collections.




- Driving best practice in archival access, preservation, digitisation, and long-term collection care.
- Supporting research enquiries and facilitating access to archival material for a diverse range of users..
- Developing and improving archival policies, procedures, and frameworks.
- Mentoring and supporting archival staff while coordinating workloads and priorities.
- Contributing to initiatives that enhance the visibility, accessibility, and long-term sustainability of archival collections.

About You
We're looking for an experienced archives skilled who brings both technical expertise and a collaborative leadership style.
You will ideally have:

- Relevant Tertiary Qualificaitons
- Proven experience managing institutional archives or significant archival collections.
- Experience leading projects, improving processes, and managing competing priorities..
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a genuine passion for archives and cultural heritage..
