Genus Infrastructure (NSW) is seeking an experienced and strategically minded Finance & Cost Director to lead financial governance, project forecasting, and commercial performance across one of Australia's most significant transmission projects.

From high‑voltage transmission lines and substations to communications networks and renewable energy assets, GNIN designs, constructs, and maintains the systems that keep Australia moving forward.
As part of the landmark HumeLink East Project, a joint venture Transmission Construction project with Acciona, you will play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy, strengthening commercial discipline, and supporting senior leadership in a fast‑paced, high‑performance environment.
The Opportunity
The Finance & Cost Director will champion financial responsibility across the Project, overseeing all Finance, Accounting, and Cost Control operations. This role requires a highly organised, analytical, and commercially astute leader who thrives in dynamic environments where no two days are the same.
This role will be predominantly based at our project joint venture office near Haymarket, with occasional travel to the project in SW NSW.
You will:
- Lead end‑to‑end financial governance across the Project, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Analyse business operations, trends, costs, revenues, commitments, and obligations to determine current financial needs and forecast future performance.
- Oversee month‑end close processes, fixed‑asset management, depreciation schedules, and financial reporting.
- Manage the full budgeting and forecasting cycle, working closely with senior leadership to deliver timely, accurate, and forward‑looking financial insights.
- Drive continuous improvement across financial systems, reporting frameworks, and cost‑control processes.
- Provide strategic commercial advice to project executives, construction managers, and operational leaders.
- Lead and develop a high‑performing finance team, fostering capability, accountability, and excellence.
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance, ASX reporting standards, and project‑specific financial requirements.
This role is central to maintaining financial discipline, supporting operational decision‑making, and ensuring the Project delivers on cost, schedule, and performance expectations.
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a financial management or senior accounting role.
- Demonstrated experience leading high‑performance teams.
- Proven project management capability within complex or large‑scale environments.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining high standards.
- Highly organised, with robust skills in prioritising, delegating, scheduling, and planning.
- Proactive focus on system optimisation, reporting improvements, and financial process enhancement.
