Talent Butler is partnering with one of Australia’s largest and most recognised Quick Service Restaurant (QSR / Fuel) organisations to appoint a National Design Consultant within its National Development team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an architectural professional with approximately 2–3 years’ experience, ideally gained within an architectural practice, who is looking to make the move client-side and gain exposure to a significant national development portfolio.

Reporting to the National Design Manager, you’ll work across new-build and reinvestment projects throughout Australia, helping ensure sites are designed to achieve the right balance between operational requirements, customer experience, planning constraints and national design standards.
The Role With Interior Design capability already managed internally, this role will have a particular focus on architectural design, site planning and the management of external design consultants.

You’ll be responsible for reviewing and challenging consultant documentation, assessing site and concept plans, and working closely with both internal stakeholders and external consultants to achieve high-quality design outcomes.
Key responsibilities will include:

- Reviewing architectural and site plans for new and existing locations
- Supporting the development of concept plans in line with operational and design requirements
- Coordinating and managing external architects and design consultants
- Reviewing consultant drawings and documentation for quality, consistency and compliance
- Applying relevant Australian Standards, building codes and planning requirements

- Working closely with internal Development, Construction and operational stakeholders
- Maintaining and evolving national architectural drawings, standards and design documentation
- Supporting planning and development outcomes, including council engagement where required
- Contributing to post-project design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives

These responsibilities reflect the original position's strong emphasis on concept planning, national design standards and the coordination and review of external architectural consultants.

About You You’ll ideally have a degree in Architecture and have spent the early part of your career working within an architectural firm or design consultancy.

Importantly, you’ll be someone who can look at a site plan and understand how the site actually works, identifying potential issues, questioning design decisions and working with consultants to achieve a better outcome.

You’ll ideally bring:

- Approximately 2–3 years’ architectural/design experience
- Experience within an architectural practice highly regarded
- A degree in Architecture or related discipline
- Strong site planning and architectural design capability
- Experience reviewing architectural drawings and consultant documentation

- Confidence coordinating and managing external consultants
- Understanding of Australian building codes, standards and planning requirements
- Revit and AutoCAD capability
- Solid communication and stakeholder-management skills
- An organised, proactive and solutions-focused approach

The underlying position description also places importance on strong communication, relationship-building, problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Experience within QSR, retail, hospitality or other Class 6 environments would be advantageous, although candidates with strong transferable architectural experience are encouraged to apply.

The Opportunity For someone currently working within an architectural practice, this represents an excellent opportunity to move client-side and see projects from a completely different perspective.

Rather than working for a single project or client brief, you'll become part of the internal team responsible for shaping a substantial national development program, working with external architects and consultants while influencing projects from early site planning and concept design through to delivery.

You'll join a highly recognised national organisation with a significant development pipeline, established internal expertise and the opportunity to build a long-term career within property, design and development.

Salary guide: Package value (ful inclusive) circa $157,000.
