We are seeking an experienced Civil Design Engineer to join our team.
This role is suited to an established civil designer/engineer with strong land development experience who can confidently take ownership of design tasks, work through technical challenges and deliver high-quality outcomes.
You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, Team Leaders and project managers in a collaborative setting, with the autonomy to get on with the job and the prospect to play an important role in CivPlan’s continued growth.
About the Role
As a Civil Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of civil engineering projects across residential, industrial and commercial projects be it including but not limited to; associated infrastructure, including roads, earthworks, stormwater drainage and utilities.
You will work closely with the Civil Design Team Leader and Project Managers, taking ownership of civil design inputs from planning proposal through concept and detailed design to final documentation, while coordinating with other consultants and relevant authorities throughout the project lifecycle.
We’re looking for someone who knows land development, understands the design process and can hit the ground running. You’ll be expected to manage your own design workload, identify and resolve technical issues, produce accurate documentation and contribute to the efficient delivery of projects.
About You
You’re an experienced civil design engineer who is confident taking ownership of your work and delivering practical, well-considered design solutions.
Here’s why we want to hear from you, you have:
- Demonstrated experience in land development and civil design across residential, industrial and commercial projects.
- Strong capability in road and access design, earthworks, stormwater drainage, site grading, servicing and associated civil infrastructure.
- Experience preparing detailed civil engineering designs and documentation.
- Demonstrated technical report writing experience is essential, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate and well-structured engineering reports and supporting technical documentation.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, council requirements, authority specifications and engineering practices.
- Proven civil design software capability, with experience in Civil Site Design (CSD), 12d or Civil 3D.
- Demonstrated experience using DRAINS for stormwater drainage modelling together with AR+R 2019 v4.2 is essential. Experience using MUSIC for stormwater quality modelling is desirable.
- Experience with MUSIC, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, and QGIS is desirable.
- A proactive and self-directed approach, with the ability to take ownership of design tasks, work independently, manage your workload and drive work through to completion.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify design and constructability issues, think through options and develop practical engineering solutions.
- A collaborative, team-first approach and a genuine willingness to share knowledge,
contribute ideas and support the people around you.
- The confidence to speak up, ask questions and seek input when needed, rather than letting an issue become a problem.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Understanding of safety in design and safety parameters.
- The ability to coordinate effectively with planning consultants, surveyors, architects and other technical consultants, as well as relevant authorities.
- The ability to manage priorities, communicate openly about workloads and deliver design work efficiently within project programmes and budgets.
- A positive, down-to-earth attitude and an appreciation for working in a team that enjoys what they do and enjoys each other.
- Minimum Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering
