Working an 8:6 roster, departing from Perth you'll fly directly to Plutonic arriving within 90mins of departure. Once onsite you are accommodated in a well-established camp that boasts a substantial gym, squash courts, multipurpose court, pool, modern ensuite rooms, just to list some of the facilities.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, the Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for providing operations with all underground and open pit geotechnical requirements to achieve safe and efficient production targets.
Responsibilities:
- Provide geotechnical support and assistance to the operation, ensuring that the operation complies with all the relevant company and statutory requirements.
- Provide geotechnical input to the mine design and scheduling process.
- Support the mining engineers with the design and implementation of optimal stopes, spans and pillars.
- Monitor and assess the performance of the geotechnical designs.
- Design the ground support and monitor its performance.
- Investigate geotechnical occurrences and make recommendations.
- Carry out geotechnical evaluations, risk assessments and make geotechnical recommendations.
- Conduct geotechnical core logging of both existing and planned drilling.
- Provide support with seismic data processing, analysis & reporting.
- Review and update the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP).
- Deliver ground awareness to site personnel.
- Conduct Geotechnical Numerical Modelling as required.
- Knowledge and understanding of WA Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and WA Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022
Requirements:
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Current "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
- Relevant experience in the mining industry.
- Computer literacy – Microsoft Office and Deswik essential.
- Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
- Awareness of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.
- Familiar with Dips & Unwedge Geotechnical software.
