About the Procurement and Supply department

The Procurement and Supply department provides support, guidance and oversight for all Procurement, supply and clinical product selection activities undertaken by Austin Health. The department sits within the Chief Financial Officer directorate, along with Financial Services, Financial Accounting, Business Intelligence Unit, Enterprise Risk and Health Information Services.

About the role

Austin Health is seeking a commercially minded Procurement Specialist to deliver strategic and tactical procurement activities across a diverse range of clinical and non-clinical expenditure categories. Reporting to the Deputy Director Procurement and Supply, you'll work closely with business leaders, stakeholders and suppliers to deliver value, savings, innovation and sustainable outcomes that support patient care.

- Develop and run end-to-end tenders and procurement activities
- Develop and implement procurement category strategies
- Analyse spend, cost drivers and supply markets to identify commercial opportunities
- Build strong supplier relationships and support supplier performance management
- Support contract negotiations and strategic contract lifecycle management
- Lead supplier performance discussions and contribute to supplier management initiatives
- Deliver procurement governance requirements, including reporting,



audits and policy and procedure updates
- Ensure compliance with Health Share Victoria (HSV) and Victorian Government procurement requirements
- Partner with stakeholders across one of Victoria's leading health services

About you

You are a commercially minded procurement professional with:

- Experience in strategic procurement, sourcing or category management
- Strong commercial, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
- The ability to analyse procurement spend, cost drivers and supply markets to identify opportunities
- Positive MS Excel, data analysis and systems skills
- Experience managing tenders, supplier relationships and contracts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information succinctly
- Strong project and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- The ability to influence stakeholders and build strong working relationships across a complex organisation
- A proactive, collaborative and innovative approach to problem solving

Desirable

- Experience in end-to-end procurement category management, supplier relationship management or supplier performance management
- Experience developing and delivering category strategies
- Healthcare or public sector procurement experience
- Knowledge of VGPB and HSV procurement frameworks
- Tertiary or postgraduate qualification in Business, Law, Procurement, Supply Chain or a related discipline
- Experience reviewing, drafting or negotiating supplier contracts and pricing agreements
