CIMIC Group is seeking an experienced Modern Data Platform Manager to be responsible for developing and implementing the enterprise Modern Data Platform strategy following the data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles.

As a key member of the ICT Solutions Delivery function, you will work closely with data teams to ensure data always has an owner, is classified, and remains secured throughout its lifecycle, and work to eliminate uncontrolled personal data stores.

About the Role

The Contemporary Data Platform Manager is responsible for the strategy development and implementation of making data available to engineers, data scientists, report developers, data owners and stewards, automation and AI engineers, and ultimately to end users — regardless of how they interact with it — following the data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles. The role works with business stakeholders and data owners to develop and implement data governance, ensuring data always has an owner, is classified, and remains secured throughout its lifecycle. The role champions the vision of all enterprise data used for reporting and decision-making being sourced from a governed, discoverable data platform — eliminating uncontrolled personal data stores and ensuring a single, trusted version of the truth across the enterprise. A key enabler of this vision is the rationalisation and simplification of the enterprise technology stack: leveraging SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) to extract and zero-copy SAP data directly into Databricks, establishing a unified, open platform where engineers, scientists, report developers, and business users can collaborate, find and explore data, govern and secure it, and build reusable semantic models — all in one place.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Developing and implementing the enterprise Modern Data Platform strategy aligned to FAIR data principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).

- Defining and maintaining the architecture and roadmap for a governed, discoverable data platform — built on SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) and Databricks — serving data engineers, scientists, report developers, data owners and stewards, automation and AI engineers, and end users.

- Working with business stakeholders and data owners to design and implement data governance frameworks, ensuring all data assets have an assigned owner, are classified by sensitivity, and remain secured throughout their lifecycle.

- Leading the rationalisation and simplification of the enterprise data technology stack, reducing reliance on multiple overlapping tools in favour of a unified platform (SAP BDC + Databricks) that simplifies architecture, reduces support overhead, and consolidates the skills and knowledge required across the team.

- Driving the elimination of uncontrolled personal data stores and shadow IT reporting by migrating them to the governed data platform, establishing a single trusted source of truth across the enterprise.

- Enabling all consumer groups — business users, data engineers, scientists, and report developers — to collaborate within the same open platform, with the ability to find and explore data, apply governance and security controls, and build and share reusable semantic models in one unified environment.

- Owning the creation and maintenance of the CIMIC Modern Data Platform Roadmap and Architecture.
