An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Payroll Manager to take full ownership of the payroll function for diverse national workforce. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this is a standalone role that suits an experienced payroll qualified who enjoys autonomy and wants to run the function their way, with support available across the wider finance team. Your responsibilities will include:

- Managing end-to-end payroll for a workforce, covering both weekly and monthly runs

- Interpret and apply multiple enterprise agreements across several states

- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax and leave entitlements

- Complete month-end payroll reporting, reconciliations and journals





- Manage end-of-year processing and reconciliations across multiple jurisdictions

- Maintain accurate payroll records and prepare reporting for finance and management

- Act as the key point of contact for payroll queries, resolving issues promptly and professionally

- Identify and drive improvements to payroll processes, controls and systems

To be considered, you are an experienced payroll professional with 8–9 years' experience who has run end-to-end payroll independently and is confident owning the function from start to finish. You bring strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, enterprise agreement interpretation and Australian payroll compliance, and you're comfortable managing multiple pay cycles for a large, varied workforce. Organised, accurate and calm under deadline pressure, you have the communication skills to handle queries across all levels of the business — and while you're happy working autonomously, you value being part of a supportive team that genuinely invests in its people.
