About You:
Johns Lyng Group (JLG) is a market-leading property services and construction company, searching for asomeone with experience in an HSEQ systems, assurance, or advisory role, with a thorough working knowledge of WHS legislation and the practical implementation of integrated management systems. You understand what assurance looks like — how to plan and conduct internal audits, identify non-conformances, manage corrective actions through to close-out, and coordinate the external certification process. You translate compliance requirements into clear, usable frameworks for operational teams and communicate confidently across all levels of an organisation.
You may have come from a construction, insurance, utilities, or another regulated professional services environment. More important than industry background is your ability to build systems that people actually use, and your instinct to make things clearer, simpler, and more consistent.
More important than industry experience, you're someone who:
- Takes ownership and follows through
- Enjoys solving problems and finding better ways of doing things
- Builds trusted relationships and communicates well with a range of stakeholders
- Has strong attention to detail and takes pride in doing things properly
- Is comfortable working with systems, data and documentation
- Enjoys a genuinely wide-ranging role with plenty of autonomy
We Offer:
- An opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals who enjoy sharing knowledge and solving problems
- Be part of a team that values trust, collaboration and continuous improvement
- Contribute ideas and improvements rather than simply following processes
- Thrive in an organisation where your contribution is truly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and revise HSEQ policies,
procedures, and controlled documents to ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and ISO requirements
- Apply document control processes and a centralised register to ensure currency and accessibility of all HSEQ documentation
- Coordinate periodic reviews of controlled documents and lead harmonisation of documentation standards across business units
- Monitor compliance with HSEQ legal obligations, Australian standards, and industry requirements
- Monitor and report on HSEQ and Risk system effectiveness through internal audits, gap analyses, and management reviews
- Develop and manage a systematic internal audit schedule across the business -proactively identifying weaknesses, non-conformances, and process gaps
- Coordinate the rigorous external audit process required to maintain JLG's ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 accreditations
- Own corrective action tracking end-to-end — ensuring that identified process failures, non-conformances, and audit findings are assigned, actioned, and formally closed out
- Maintain external accreditations including CM3 and ISO certifications; coordinate and support internal and external audit activities
- Support the integration of HSEQ documentation into digital platforms including SharePoint, intranet, and project management systems
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve HSEQ systems, processes and procedures to drive continuous improvement
What We Are Looking For
- Solid experience in an HSEQ systems, compliance, or assurance role, with hands-on knowledge of how integrated management systems are built, maintained, and improved
- Demonstrated experience with ISO 9001, 14001, and/or 45001 — including internal audit, gap analysis, corrective action management, and supporting external certification processes
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice, and risk management frameworks applicable to construction, insurance, or related industries
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills — you can translate technical compliance requirements into clear guidance that operational teams actually follow
- A calm, structured approach and the resilience to manage competing priorities across a complex, multi-site environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels, from site teams to senior leadership
- Proficiency in MS Office, Teams, and SharePoint; comfort working with safety management systems and digital document platforms
- Formal qualification in Workplace Health & Safety (Degree, Diploma, or Cert IV) and at least 3-5 years of experience in a comparable role; Lead Auditor certification or equivalent is highly regarded
Please note: The successful candidate must have the right to work in Australia and be prepared to undergo a pre-employment criminal background check.
Agency Notice: JLG do not accept unsolicited resumes or candidate profiles from recruitment agencies. Please do not forward resumes to hiring managers, or any other company employees. JLG are not responsible for any fees related to unsolicited resumes.
