We’re a popular, community‑focused café in Sandringham, Melbourne, currently serving breakfast and lunch with dinner service returning soon gradually. We’re looking for a versatile Chef / Kitchen All‑Rounder who’s confident across all aspects of café cooking and happy to jump in wherever needed.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You’ll be preparing and cooking a fresh, seasonal café menu, supporting smooth service, and contributing to the upcoming expansion into dinner. This role suits someone who’s adaptable, organised, and comfortable taking ownership of the kitchen during busy periods.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Cook breakfast, lunch and (soon) dinner menu items
Maintain high standards of quality, presentation and consistency
Assist with prep, service, cleaning and general kitchen tasks
Supervise and support a kitchen hand and other staff as required
Follow food safety and hygiene procedures
Help with stock rotation, ordering and minimising waste
WHAT YOU BRING
At a minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
Solid experience in a café or restaurant kitchen (3 to 5 years)
Robust knife skills and reliable cooking technique
Ability to work independently and stay calm under pressure
A positive attitude and willingness to pitch in across all tasks
Transparent communication with both kitchen and front‑of‑house teams
Understanding of allergens and willingness to accommodate changes to menu where required
