Readings is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to take ownership of end-to-end payroll delivery across nine shops, our warehouse and head office.
This is a hands on specialist role responsible for delivering an accurate, timely and compliant weekly payroll using Humanforce and MicrOpay.
You will be the primary contact for payroll matters, providing knowledgeable and responsive support to employees and managers.
The role also manages payroll reporting and compliance across superannuation, PAYG withholding, payroll tax, WorkCover and leave entitlements.
You will support payroll system changes, work with our system providers and identify opportunities to improve payroll efficiency and controls.
Key responsibilities
Manage the end-to-end weekly payroll process
Review and resolve time and attendance exceptions in Humanforce
Process employee commencements, changes, leave and terminations
Maintain accurate payroll and employee records
Maintain payroll system settings to reflect approved EBA, award and employment-condition requirements
Respond to payroll queries from employees and managers
Complete payroll reconciliations, reporting and statutory submissions
Manage superannuation, PAYG withholding, payroll tax, WorkCover and leave obligations
Support payroll system changes and process improvements
Maintain appropriate payroll controls, procedures and confidentiality
What you'll bring
At least five years' end-to-end payroll experience,
ideally within retail or another award-intensive environment
Demonstrated ability to independently manage an accurate and compliant payroll service
Sound working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, modern awards and employment conditions
Experience across superannuation, PAYG withholding, payroll tax, WorkCover and leave entitlements
Advanced MicrOpay skills and robust experience with Humanforce or a comparable time and attendance system
Strong reconciliation, reporting and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and the ability to meet weekly deadlines
A genuine service mindset and confidence communicating with employees and managers
Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information
