The Manager, FOI and Information Release leads the organisation's Freedom of Information (FOI) and information release function, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, governance requirements, and organisational policies.
The role provides strategic legal advice, oversees complex information requests, drives continuous improvement, and leads a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the FOI and information release function, including subpoenas and government requests.
Oversee the end-to-end management of FOI requests and ensure legislative compliance.
Provide legal and strategic advice on FOI and information governance matters.
Manage complex, sensitive, and high-profile information requests, reviews, and appeals.
Maintain statutory reporting and support regulatory compliance.
Develop and improve information release processes, policies, and systems.
Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Lead, coach, and develop team members while supporting workforce planning and performance.
Essential Skills and Experience
Extensive experience leading FOI and information release functions.
Relevant tertiary qualification in Law or a related discipline.
Eligibility to hold a Legal Practising Certificate in Australia.
Experience managing complex FOI matters, reviews, and appeals.
Solid leadership and people management capabilities.
Knowledge of information governance and records management.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills.
Demonstrated ability to deliver strategic improvements and operational outcomes
