Safety Advisor – High Voltage & Renewable Energy Projects

HSB Resources is a Queensland-based consultancy providing HSEQ advisory, project services, training, inspection and workforce solutions across the energy, renewables, utilities, infrastructure and heavy industry sectors.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to join our team in Brisbane. This role offers a unique blend of field-based project support and office-based advisory services, providing exposure to a diverse range of clients and projects across Queensland and Australia.
The Opportunity
This position is ideally suited to an experienced safety professional who enjoys balancing site-based engagement with strategic safety support.
The successful candidate will typically spend:
2 days per week on project sites
conducting inspections, audits and supporting operational teams
3 days per week in our Brisbane office
supporting safety management systems, client advisory services, investigations and project compliance activities
You will work across a variety of industries with a particular focus on:
High Voltage Infrastructure
Electrical Substations
Oil & Gas & Resources
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
Key Responsibilities
Field-Based Responsibilities
Conduct workplace inspections, audits and verification activities
Provide practical HSEQ advice to project teams and contractors
Facilitate toolbox talks, pre-starts and safety meetings
Participate in risk assessments and SWMS reviews
Support permit-to-work and isolation processes
Monitor compliance with WHS and Electrical Safety legislation
Assist with incident investigations and corrective action management
Promote positive safety culture and workforce engagement
Liaise with client representatives, site management and subcontractors
Office-Based Responsibilities
Develop and review safety management systems and procedures
Prepare client reports, audits and compliance documentation




Assist clients with legislative compliance obligations
Conduct risk assessments and project safety planning
Support tender submissions and safety documentation
Analyse incident and lead indicator data
Assist with contractor management processes
Provide remote HSEQ support to project teams and clients
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across HSB Resources
About You
To be successful in this role you will possess:
Cert IV in Work Health & Safety (minimum)
Current Construction White Card
Current First Aid & CPR Certification
Minimum 5 years' experience in a Safety Advisor position
Strong understanding of Queensland WHS legislation
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Current Australian Driver's Licence
Ability to travel to project sites as required
Highly Desirable
Experience on High Voltage electrical projects
Experience working on substations, transmission lines or distribution projects
Renewable energy project experience (Solar, Wind or BESS)
ICAM or equivalent incident investigation training
Diploma or Advanced Diploma in WHS
Electrical Safety qualifications
Experience working with EPC contractors, utilities or principal contractors
