Project Manager – Structural Steel Location: Gold Coast, QLD Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 + Car/Car Allowance + Super Are you an experienced Project Manager with a background in structural steel looking to take ownership of major construction projects from start to finish?
We're partnering with a well-established structural steel contractor delivering large-scale commercial and infrastructure projects across South East Queensland.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing team where you'll oversee the successful delivery of complex structural steel packages, working alongside Tier 1 and Tier 2 builders.
The Opportunity As Project Manager, you'll be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of multiple structural steel projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
You'll be the key point of contact between clients, consultants, workshop teams, site crews, and subcontractors, driving project success from award through to completion.
Key Responsibilities Manage the full lifecycle of structural steel fabrication and installation projects.
Review contracts, identify commercial risks, and manage contractual obligations including variations, progress claims, and extensions of time.
Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Provide strong safety leadership across workshop and site operations.
Coordinate procurement activities and manage supplier and subcontractor relationships.
Liaise with clients, consulting engineers, builders, and internal stakeholders throughout project delivery.
Ensure fabrication and installation activities are completed in accordance with project specifications and quality requirements.




Monitor project performance, labour productivity, programme, costs, and risks to achieve commercial targets.
Attend client meetings and design reviews, managing design changes and associated cost implications.
Drive continuous improvement by identifying efficiencies and documenting lessons learned.
About You Minimum 5 years' experience managing structural steel or heavy fabrication projects.
A strong background in structural steel, mechanical engineering, or fabrication , gained through either a trade or engineering pathway.
Proven experience delivering fabrication and site installation projects within commercial construction, infrastructure, mining, power, water, or industrial sectors.
Experience managing workshop operations alongside on-site installation teams.
Strong understanding of estimating principles for fabrication and construction works.
Excellent contract administration and stakeholder management skills.
The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality, safety, and profitability.
A Trade Qualification or Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical or Structural Engineering (preferred).
