About the Role The Systems Engineer provides technical leadership and capability across project and business‐as‐usual activities.
The role is responsible for designing, implementing, configuring, maintaining and optimising applications, network and server infrastructure that enable UTS College business operations.
The position contributes to the architecture, configuration, testing and deployment of applications and supporting infrastructure across both on premise and cloud‐based environments.
It plays a key role in resolving complex incidents, improving system reliability and performance, and delivering infrastructure enhancements aligned to business priorities.
Responsibilities • Undertakes or supervises complex installations and de-installations of systems or components, including handover • Schedules installation work around priorities and resource availability.
• Monitors and manages incident queues to ensure incidents are handled according to procedures and service levels.
• Contributes to developing, testing and improving incident management procedures.
Uses analytics tools to track trends.
• Applies technical expertise to maintain and optimise network infrastructure, executing updates and employing automation tools.
• Uses network management tools to monitor load, performance, and security statistics.
Investigates and enables the resolution of network- related operational and security issues.
• Configures tools and/or creates scripts to automate network tasks.
• Contributes to the planning and implementation of network maintenance, updates, and security enhancements.
• Implements agreed network changes and maintenance routines.
• Drives the adoption of tools and automated processes for effective operational management and delivery.
• Oversees the planning, installation, maintenance and acceptance of new and updated infrastructure components and infrastructure-based services.
Aligns to service expectations, security requirements and other quality standards.
About You • Experience in systems engineering, infrastructure or related technical roles.
• Strong expertise in server administration, virtualization, cloud platforms (e.g. Azure/AWS), networking and security operations.
• Relevant degree or industry recognized qualifications (or equivalent experience).
• Solid understanding and practical application of ITIL service management practices.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing infrastructure solutions and automation.
• Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills, with the ability to manage complex technical issues.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non‐technical stakeholders.
