What You'll Do
As General Manager of Operations, you will have end-to-end responsibility for the strategic, operational, safety and financial performance of the Spearwood site. You will lead a diverse team, drive a strong safety and engagement culture, and deliver results through best-practice operations and continuous improvement.
This role reports to the Director of Operations and plays a critical part in achieving Americold's commercial and customer objectives across the region.
Key Responsibilities
Full P&L; ownership, including budget development, financial analysis and profitability improvement
Lead and embed a strong safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with all safety, food quality and loss prevention standards
Provide visible, values-led leadership aligned with Americold's Company Values
Drive operational excellence, productivity and service outcomes through continuous improvement initiatives
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, unions and key internal stakeholders
Lead, coach and develop leadership and operational teams, focusing on capability, engagement and performance
Review and act on key performance indicators covering safety, service, financial and people outcomes
Partner with HR on workforce planning, labour strategies and talent development
Oversee capital expenditure, site performance metrics, customer contracts and service reviews
6–10 years of senior leadership experience within logistics, warehousing or distribution (retail or cold storage preferred)
Strong commercial and financial acumen, including proven P&L; management experience
Demonstrated success leading large,



operational teams in a quick-paced environment
Experience implementing continuous improvement and change management initiatives
Excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
A collaborative, accountable leadership style with a strong customer focus
Solid understanding of Australian transport regulations, including Chain of Responsibility
Continuous Improvement certification (desired)
What Experience And Education You Need
6–10 years of senior leadership experience within logistics, warehousing or distribution (retail or cold storage preferred)
Strong commercial and financial acumen, including proven P&L; management experience
Demonstrated success leading large, operational teams in a rapid-paced environment
Experience implementing continuous improvement and change management initiatives
Excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
