Quality Engineer 12 month Contract Chance | Brisbane CBD | Hybrid Working We are seeking an experienced Hands-on Quality Engineer to play a key role in a major HR transformation program for a large Queensland organisation.
Hands-on Quality Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and scaling an API-first test automation ecosystem across a multi-SaaS landscape.
This role leads the re-platforming and modernisation of automation frameworks, enabling reusable, secure, and high-performing quality engineering practices embedded into CI/CD.
Key responsibilities include: Design and implement scalable, API-first automation frameworks spanning contract testing, integration testing, and End-to-End (E2E) validation.
Design and implement scalable, maintainable UI tests across multiple platforms.
Establish test orchestration and CI/CD quality gates using GitHub pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
Drive test data management strategies, including data provisioning, masking/obfuscation (e.g., DataMasque), and secure, compliant data lifecycle controls.
Implement API performance and compatibility testing aligned with scalability, resilience, and release risk.
Participate in re-platforming initiatives for the existing tool stack/frameworks (Playwright, Karate, K6) and design/enable AI-driven test automation capabilities to improve coverage, resilience, and defect detection.




Collaborate closely with multiple project and platform teams to embed quality engineering seamlessly into delivery workflows.
What We're Looking For Extensive experience as a Senior Quality Engineer, SDET or Test Automation Engineer in complex integration or SaaS environments.
Strong expertise in API-first testing, including contract, integration and end-to-end automation.
Proven experience building and scaling automation frameworks, not simply executing automated tests.
Hands-on experience with Playwright, Karate, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions and modern DevOps practices.
Exposure to API performance testing (K6), test data management and data masking solutions highly regarded.
Ability to influence delivery teams, establish automation standards and operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Experience with AI-assisted test automation and large-scale platform transformation programs is highly desirable.
