About the Role Helping hands and behaviour support is seeking a compassionate and motivated Youth Worker to join our growing team.
The successful applicant will provide individualised support to young people experiencing social, emotional, behavioural, and developmental challenges while promoting independence, wellbeing, and community participation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the individual needs of young people and develop tailored support, education, and intervention plans.
Meet with clients to evaluate their social, emotional, behavioural, educational, and personal circumstances to determine appropriate support strategies.
Monitor client progress, maintain accurate case records, and regularly review support plans to ensure positive outcomes.
Refer clients to appropriate health, housing, education, employment, counselling, and community support services where additional assistance is required.
Assess community resources and available services to ensure young people have access to appropriate health, welfare, training, employment, and support programs.




Build and maintain effective relationships with community organisations, welfare agencies, schools, government departments, and external stakeholders to improve service coordination and increase awareness of available community services.
Provide practical guidance, education, and ongoing support to young people and their families to encourage independent living, positive behaviour, and social inclusion.
Assist young people in addressing personal, social, emotional, and financial challenges by providing advocacy, mentoring, and appropriate intervention strategies.
Provide supervision and ongoing support to young people involved in the justice system, including those subject to probation or parole orders.
Prepare detailed case notes, progress reports, funding applications, and documentation required by government bodies and funding agencies.
Ensure all services are delivered in accordance with organisational policies, child safeguarding principles, workplace health and safety requirements, and relevant legislation.
Skills and Qualifications Required Relevant qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline.
Minimum one year of relevant experience in youth or community services.
Strong knowledge of case management principles and person-centred support practices.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and report-writing skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with young people, families, and external stakeholders.
Sound understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and relevant legislation.
Current Working with Children Check, National Police Check, and a current Driver Licence (or ability to obtain).
