Chef – Full Time Tandoori Guru Whyalla – Whyalla, South Australia Tandoori Guru Whyalla is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our growing team on a full-time basis.
We are looking for an individual who has a solid understanding of authentic Indian cuisine and can thrive in a fast-paced restaurant environment while maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
Position Details Position: Chef Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent Location: Whyalla, South Australia Salary: $80,000 to $82,000 per annum plus superannuation, depending on skills and experience.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Prepare, cook and present a variety of authentic Indian dishes including curries, tandoori specialties, breads, rice dishes, entrees and desserts.
Plan and develop menus, seasonal specials and new dishes in consultation with management.
Estimate food requirements, labour needs and kitchen operating costs.
Order, receive and maintain stock levels of food supplies, ingredients and kitchen materials.
Monitor food quality and presentation standards throughout all stages of preparation and service.
Prepare and marinate meats, seafood and vegetables for tandoori cooking and operate tandoor ovens and related equipment.
Supervise food preparation activities and coordinate kitchen operations during service periods.
Discuss food preparation issues and menu changes with management and kitchen staff.
Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance and support to junior kitchen staff.
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety regulations.
Inspect ingredients and finished dishes to ensure consistency, freshness and quality.
Train and mentor kitchen staff in food preparation procedures and safe handling practices.
Monitor portion control and minimise food wastage.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen work areas and storage facilities.
Preserve, freeze and store food items appropriately to maintain quality and reduce spoilage.
Cater for customer dietary requirements, allergies and special requests where required.
Minimum Requirements Minimum qualification of Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or a related field.
A minimum of one year of relevant experience working as a Chef, preferably in an Indian restaurant environment.
Experience preparing authentic Indian cuisine, including curries, tandoori dishes, breads and other traditional Indian specialties, will be highly regarded.
Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen operations.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
