POSITION | JORDAN Contract Engineer | VVIP Private Estate LOCATION Amman, Jordan The client will arrange the work visa and provide relocation if the successful candidate is not local.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The Contract Engineer will manage the preparation, review and administration of contracts and commercial agreements for construction, refurbishment and high-end finishing projects within a VVIP private estate.
The position is responsible for protecting the client's contractual interests, ensuring compliance by contractors and suppliers, managing contractual correspondence and variations, and maintaining accurate records throughout the project lifecycle.
The Contract Engineer will work closely with project management, cost control, consultants, contractors and suppliers to ensure that all parties fulfil their obligations.
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Additional qualification in Contract Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management highly regarded Relevant professional certification or membership advantageous Fluent English, written and spoken mandatory Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Sinhala or another Indian or Sri Lankan language advantageous EXPERIENCE Five to ten years' experience in contract engineering, contract administration or a related commercial position Strong experience drafting and administering construction contracts and commercial agreements Proven knowledge of contractual terms, conditions, scopes of work and change-management procedures Experience managing contracts for luxury residences, palaces, five-star hotels or high-end construction projects preferred Demonstrated experience reviewing contractor and supplier invoices Experience preparing progress payment certificates, forecasts and variation orders Strong understanding of construction guarantees, bonds and insurance requirements Middle East construction experience highly regarded DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Draft and review contracts, agreements,
task orders and scopes of work Prepare purchase orders, change orders and contract modifications Draft formal contractual correspondence, notices and responses Develop and review contractual terms and conditions Ensure that agreements accurately reflect the approved commercial and technical requirements Provide contractual guidance and support to project management and relevant departments Administer construction, consultancy, contractor and supplier agreements Monitor contractual performance throughout the complete project lifecycle Ensure all parties fulfil their contractual obligations and responsibilities Identify contractual risks, breaches, inconsistencies and potential disputes Address contractual discrepancies and modifications promptly and effectively Coordinate the resolution of contractual issues with relevant project stakeholders Review contractor and supplier invoices for accuracy and contractual compliance Assist in preparing progress payment certificates in coordination with Cost Control Review project forecasts, variation orders and associated commercial documentation Evaluate the contractual basis and financial impact of proposed variations Prepare responses to contractual queries raised by contractors Review and respond to formal letters submitted by contractors, consultants and suppliers Prepare notices relating to delays, non-compliance, variations and contractual entitlements Review performance guarantees, advance-payment guarantees, retention bonds and other securities Review contractor and supplier insurance policies for compliance with contractual requirements Monitor the validity and renewal dates of guarantees,
bonds and insurance policies Maintain accurate records of correspondence, amendments, claims and change orders Establish and maintain contract registers and document-control systems Ensure contractual records are properly archived and readily accessible Support contractual negotiations, claims assessment and dispute resolution Assist with contract close-out, final accounts and the release of securities Prepare regular contractual status and risk reports for management Maintain strict confidentiality concerning all project and commercial information SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Advanced contract drafting and administration skills Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial agreements Understanding of contractual claims, variations and change management Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings and scopes of work Strong contractual-risk identification and mitigation capability Excellent written correspondence and report-writing skills Commercial awareness and sound professional judgement Solid negotiation and conflict-resolution skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability Meticulous attention to detail and documentation accuracy Effective organisation and records-management skills Ability to coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders Proficiency in Microsoft Office and contract-management systems High level of integrity, discretion and confidentiality Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines Commitment to protecting the client's contractual and commercial interests SALARY USD 2,*****,000 per month, depending on qualifications and experience.
