MACRO Recruitment is seeking expressions of interest from talented engineers and physics graduates for future contract opportunities with the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) in Edinburgh, South Australia.
While there is no vacancy at the moment, we are building a talent pool for potential 12-month contracts commencing in ****.
About the Role: You will work as part of a dynamic team in the design, manufacture, and characterisation of experimental warheads.
The role combines hands-on experimental work with Finite Element Modelling (FEM) to support the development of cutting-edge defence capabilities.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute scientific experiments to assess warhead technologies and ensure safe operations.
Analyse experimental data and report findings clearly and effectively.
Contribute to mechanical design (using Solid Edge or similar CAD tools) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Design and apply specialised electro-mechanical instrumentation to quantify weapon performance and damage mechanisms.
Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to develop mission-critical systems and test future weapon system concepts.
Make on-the-fly modifications or adjustments to meet fast-paced project timelines.
Skills and Experience We're Looking For:Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronic, Materials Engineering or Physics.
Experience with Solid Edge (or similar CAD software) and Finite Element Modelling (FEM).
Australian Citizenship is mandatory (for security clearance purposes).
Collaborative work with teams of chemists, engineers, physicists, and technical specialists.
