As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Corporate Investment Banking (CIB) Technology on the APAC Payments Production Management team based in Sydney you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, deliver and support trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way.
As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities Executes creative software solutions, design and development to assist technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, incident/root-cause analysis support), while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team.
Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems Leads evaluation sessions with internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture Oversee production technology incidents, ensuring prompt engagement, escalation,



and clear communication with business, technology and operation partners Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent 5+ years of experience troubleshooting, resolving, and maintaining production or customer facing systems.
Strong stakeholder management and communication maturity (executive presence), including explicit, confident verbal updates and experience partnering with senior stakeholders.
Establishes best practices for AI usage within the team (prompting standards, review/checking steps, documentation, and knowledge sharing) to improve consistency and quality.
Capable of driving issue resolution across multiple support teams and stakeholders (Product, Operations, Infrastructure, vendor/third parties where applicable) Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability Advanced in one or more programming language(s) Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language or scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation.
Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.) In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments Practical cloud native experience Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills Ability to work with limited supervision; strong ownership and autonomy.




General knowledge of the financial services industry.
Practical experience related to real-time payments, cross-border, high-value and low-value payment products (domestically within Australia and/or other international markets).
Exposure to Australia's payments systems (NPP, BECS, RBA RITS RTGS) and similar APAC schemes.
ISO ***** familiarity and understanding of scheme SLAs/cutoffs.
Exposure to 24x7 production environments and the incident management lifecycle is a plus.
