We are seeking Systems Administrator/ Data Engineer to join a high-performing Federal Government Department.
The successful Systems Administrator/ Data Engineer will be responsible for the design, deployment and operational management of containerised data processing environments and applications.
The Systems Administrator/ Data Engineer will also be responsible for managing, transforming and operationalising data for use by business areas.
The successful Systems Administrator/ Data Engineer will secure an initial 12-month contract with the view to be extended for 2 years and receive a rewarding hourly rate .
The Systems Administrator/ Data Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to; Designing, implementing, and optimising Kubernetes-based environments to host and scale applications.
Planning, implementing, and maintaining data engineering solutions in SQL and Python.
Building and maintaining robust data ingestion and processing flows, ensuring data integrity and system stability.
Fusing data sources using various data pre-processing techniques such as transformation, integration, normalisation, and feature extraction to create practical data structures.
Developing and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation, deployment blueprints,



and operational playbooks Identifying bottlenecks in manual processes and deliver automated solutions using Python and Ansible to improve operational efficiency.
The Systems Administrator/ Data Engineer will have experience in the following: 3+ years of relevant System Administrator, DevOps, Data Engineering / Data Warehousing experience Experience implementing DevOps practices, including the creation and maintenance of Cl/CD pipelines.
Strong experience in the deployment, configuration, and management of Kubernetes (K8s) clusters and containerised workloads.
Ability to develop, deploy and maintain scalable data engineering solutions in SQL and Python.
Proficiency in Linux system administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning and with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Python Scripting and programming capabilities, primarily in Python.
