We are an established Canberra hospitality group seeking an experienced Venue Manager to lead one of our flagship venues as we build towards a busy Spring/Summer season.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in fast-paced hospitality environments and can confidently lead café, bar, restaurant and function operations.
The role requires strong operational discipline, commercial awareness, emotional maturity and the ability to build trust across teams.
We are looking for a leader who is visible on the floor, supports the team during service and leads by example.
About the role
The Venue Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the venue, leading front-of-house teams to deliver exceptional guest experiences, strong commercial performance and a positive workplace culture.
Working closely with the Directors, Operations Manager and Group Executive Head Chef, you will ensure seamless communication and collaboration between front and back of house, driving efficient service, operational excellence and a consistently high guest experience.
You will be responsible for maintaining service standards, developing your team, managing labour and operational costs, overseeing venue systems and ensuring the venue operates efficiently across daily trade, functions and events.
This role will suit someone who is commercially astute, highly organised, calm under pressure and genuinely invested in developing people.
Key responsibilities
Lead, support and mentor front-of-house team.
Oversee service quality, guest experience and venue standards.
Manage labour costs, rostering and operational productivity.
Drive venue performance while maintaining exceptional customer service.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Oversee stock control, ordering and venue systems.




Work collaboratively with the Group Executive Head Chef to ensure seamless front and back-of-house operations.
Support recruitment, onboarding, training and development of team members.
Build a positive, respectful and accountable workplace culture.
Provide hands-on leadership during busy services and events.
Identify problems quickly and implement practical solutions.
Ensure compliance with liquor licensing, WHS and venue policies.
Maintain POS systems, reservation platforms and front-of-house equipment.
About you
You are an experienced hospitality leader who understands the demands of a busy venue.
You can think on your feet, solve problems in real time and remain calm when service is under pressure.
We are looking for someone who:
Has proven experience as a Venue Manager or senior hospitality leader.
Has a strong background across café, bar and restaurant operations, with functions experience highly regarded.
Understands labour management, rostering, stock control and venue profitability.
Is confident using POS systems, reservation platforms and front-of-house technology.
Can troubleshoot operational issues and keep service running smoothly.
Is emotionally mature, professional and confident managing difficult conversations.
Can think quickly and solve problems without panic.
Remains calm, composed and practical under pressure.
Can mentor, coach and develop high-performing teams.
Is prepared to be hands-on and visible during service.
Takes ownership, follows through and is comfortable with accountability.
