Our client is seeking an experienced Finance Officer/Bookkeeper to join a busy, project-based business operating within the construction and manufacturing sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and commercially minded finance professional who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and working closely with senior leadership.
This is a hands-on position supporting multiple business entities and projects.
Working alongside the CEO, external accountant, Project Managers and construction teams, you will help manage day-to-day finance activities, project costs, payroll, inventory and cash flow.
This is not a purely transactional finance role.
Our client is looking for someone who can keep pace within a busy environment, anticipate what needs to be done and provide solutions when issues arise.
You will also support the CEO with general administration, emails, quotes, invoices and changing daily priorities.
What you'll be doing: Processing high-volume Accounts Payable across multiple business entities Managing Accounts Receivable, debtor follow-up and payment allocation Processing payroll for a workforce of more than 25 employees Allocating labour costs from employee timesheets to the correct projects Processing purchase orders, goods receipts and supplier invoices Maintaining accurate project costing and Work-in-Progress records within Xero Projects Monitoring material, labour, subcontractor and overhead costs against approved budgets Identifying cost variances, trends and potential cost-saving opportunities Maintaining inventory records,
investigating discrepancies and assisting with stock valuations Reconciling bank accounts and supplier statements and investigating discrepancies Assisting with cash-flow forecasting, project budgets and month-end processing Liaising with suppliers regarding invoices, payments and account enquiries Maintaining accurate financial records across multiple business entities Managing the CEO's emails and sending quotes and invoices to clients What you'll need: Demonstrated experience as a Finance Clerk, Accounts Officer, Bookkeeper or similar A qualification in Bookkeeping or Accounting, supported by practical industry experience At least three years' experience within finance, bookkeeping or transactional accounting Extensive Accounts Payable experience within a high-volume environment Experience processing Accounts Receivable and payroll Experience using Xero Accounting and Xero Projects Solid Excel skills, including formulas and PivotTables Previous experience within construction, manufacturing, modular building or another project-based environment is highly regarded An understanding of project costing, Work-in-Progress, physical inventory and job-cost movements The resilience to work effectively within a direct, fast-paced and practical environment What's in it for you: A varied finance and bookkeeping position with genuine responsibility Exposure to multiple entities, projects and operational finance activities A broad role covering transactional finance, payroll, project costing and administration The opportunity to improve financial processes and help keep project costs on track A practical, hands-on workplace where initiative and problem-solving are valued How to apply: To complete your application for this position please click on the "APPLY" button.
