About the Role
The Executive Officer is a senior role within the Office of the CEO. Working under broad direction from the Chief Executive Officer, the role provides high-level administrative, governance, communications, stakeholder and project support across the organisation. The role supervises the Marketing & Communications team and coordinates priority work that supports organisational strategic objectives, consistent messaging, effective executive office operations and timely delivery of agreed projects and reporting.
Key Duties
The Executive Officer will provide high-level coordination, advice and operational support to the CEO and Executive, and will supervise the Marketing & Communications team. The role supports the delivery of organisational priorities through effective executive office administration, stakeholder coordination, communications oversight, governance support and project monitoring. Specifically, the role will be responsible for:
Business Development
- Coordinate research, analysis and advice on service improvement, stakeholder engagement and organisational development opportunities as requested by the CEO.
- Prepare briefing papers, reports and option analysis to support CEO and Executive consideration of priority initiatives.
- Assist with the development of business cases, submissions and implementation plans, including coordinating input from Finance, Risk, Governance and relevant Directorates.
- Support Directorates to coordinate tender proposals, submissions, stakeholder correspondence and related documentation where requested.
Marketing & Communications
- Manage and provide specialist oversight of the Marketing & Communications team, including work planning, prioritisation and day-to-day supervision.
- Oversee the delivery of branding, media, digital, public relations and internal communication activities that support organisational profile, reputation and stakeholder engagement.
- Oversee the development of campaigns, communications and collateral aligned with approved organisational priorities and brand requirements.
- Ensure consistent messaging, tone, and branding across all platforms.
- Monitor communication channels, technologies and stakeholder engagement trends,
and recommend practical improvements to the CEO and Executive as appropriate.
- Monitor and periodically review organisational communication channels and messaging for reach, effectiveness and engagement by staff, stakeholders and members of the public.
Government Relations
- Support the CEO and Executive with government, sector and stakeholder engagement, including preparing briefings, correspondence, meeting materials and follow-up actions.
- Attend sector forums, meetings and stakeholder discussions as delegated, and provide accurate notes, advice and follow-up coordination.
- Monitor relevant policy and sector developments and provide timely summaries, advice and recommendations to support organisational responses.
Strategic Planning, Leadership Oversight and Business Administration
- Provide advice, coordination and executive support to the CEO in relation to strategic planning, business planning and priority initiatives.
- Coordinate planning inputs, reporting cycles, action registers and updates on agreed organisational priorities.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of whole-of-organisation business plan initiatives, including tracking actions, risks, dependencies and reporting requirements.
- Assist the CEO with governance administration, Board and committee coordination, preparation of reports, and follow-up of decisions and action items.
What We Need from You
- Relevant experience in senior administrative, governance, executive support, communications or specialist management roles.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in business administration, communications, governance, project management, corporate services or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
- Proven experience managing communications, stakeholder engagement, executive office functions, projects and/or governance-related activities.
- Sound understanding of governance, risk, compliance, financial and organisational administration principles.
- Strong planning, analytical, reporting and risk awareness capability, including the ability to coordinate complex work and prepare high-quality briefing materials.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a small specialist team, allocate work, support performance and manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Maintain current Working with Vulnerable People registration.
