About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join the Empowering Connection Group team in Victor Harbor SA. This is a casual position, with a pathway to part time after 3 months. We are offering flexibility whilst making a real difference in the lives of people with disabilities.

As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals to achieve their goals, maintain independence, and participate actively in their communities. Your work will directly contribute to enhancing the wellbeing and quality of life of the people we serve.

Key responsibilities

- Provide personalised support and assistance to service users with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household management
- Assist service users in accessing community facilities, recreational activities, and social opportunities to promote independence and social inclusion
- Support service users to develop and maintain life skills, independence, and confidence in their daily routines
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of support provided, service user progress,



and any concerns or incidents
- Communicate effectively with service users, their families, and the broader support team to ensure coordinated and person-centred care
- Assist with the implementation of individualised support plans and help service users work towards their personal goals
- Respond with sensitivity and professionalism to service users' physical, emotional, and social needs
- Promote and respect service users' rights, dignity, privacy, and autonomy in all interactions
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for service users
- Collaborate with team members and other professionals to ensure consistent, quality support delivery

What we're looking for

- A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care
- Previous experience in disability support, aged care, community services, or a related field (or demonstrated willingness to develop in this area)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with service users and colleagues
- Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service users and organisation
- Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and emotional resilience when supporting vulnerable individuals




- Sound organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- A current valid First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one (or equivalent qualification as required)
- A current Working With Children's Check (WWCC) Check or consent to obtain one prior to commencement
- A clean driver's licence is advantageous, as the role may require transportation of service users
- Ability to lift and assist service users safely, with knowledge of manual handling and appropriate use of assistive equipment
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional boundaries and organisational policies
