Branch Manager – Sydney

Private Advertiser | Western Sydney

Step into a broader commercial leadership role

An established industrial equipment business is seeking a commercially driven Branch Manager to take responsibility for its Sydney operation and continued growth across NSW.

This is a role for someone who enjoys being close to the market.

It could suit an existing Branch or Sales Manager, but equally, we are interested in speaking with a seasoned Business Development Manager who is ready to step into a broader leadership position.

You may already be the person others turn to for advice. You may have helped develop less experienced salespeople, taken the lead on larger opportunities or become increasingly involved in decisions beyond your own accounts.

If you've reached the stage where you want responsibility for more than your own sales number, this could be a natural next move.

The role

You'll take responsibility for the commercial performance and day-to-day leadership of an established Sydney branch.

There is a capable team and an existing customer base to work with, but there is also considerable scope to grow the NSW business.

Your responsibilities will span:

- Driving revenue growth and improving overall branch performance

- Developing new business and maintaining relationships with important customers

- Leading, coaching and supporting sales and operational staff

- Setting clear priorities and maintaining accountability across the team

- Reviewing pipeline, activity and commercial performance

- Maintaining appropriate focus on margins, costs and profitable growth

- Working with the team to resolve customer and operational issues

- Identifying recent markets and opportunities throughout NSW

- Contributing to business planning and working closely with senior management

While there is genuine management responsibility, this isn't an office-bound management position.

The successful person will remain active with customers and in the market. Leadership here is practical—you'll work alongside the team, contribute to important opportunities, provide guidance when it's needed and lead through your own standards and example.

What we're looking for

Industry experience matters.

We are particularly interested in people who have built their career around equipment hire, compressed air, industrial equipment, mechanical equipment or associated technical markets.

Some exposure to compressed air would be advantageous, although strong candidates from adjacent sectors with the right technical aptitude will also be considered.

More important is a combination of sales capability, commercial judgement and emerging or established leadership skills.

You are likely to have:

- Several years of successful B2B sales or business development experience

- A good understanding of equipment hire or technical/industrial sales

- Experience coaching, supervising or informally leading others

- A demonstrated ability to develop new business

- Strong commercial instincts and an understanding of profitable sales

- The confidence to deal with customers at both site and management level

- A practical, accountable approach to leadership

- The ability to bring people with you rather than simply direct them

- The energy to balance leadership responsibilities with an active market presence

Formal branch management experience is not essential.

For the right experienced salesperson, this is an opportunity to make the transition from being responsible primarily for your own results to influencing the performance of an entire business unit.

The opportunity

The position carries genuine responsibility and scope to make an impact.

You'll inherit an established operation rather than starting from scratch, with the infrastructure, people and resources of a larger Australian business behind you.

At the same time, the environment is sufficiently agile that the Branch Manager can influence how the business develops in NSW.

The package will reflect the seniority of the position and includes a fully maintained company vehicle, incentive program, phone and laptop.

The branch is located in Western Sydney, and the role involves regular travel throughout the Sydney metropolitan area and broader NSW market.

If you are an experienced industry salesperson wondering what the next stage of your career looks like—or an existing manager looking for a more commercially involved leadership position—we'd be pleased to hear from you.

Applications will be treated in strict confidence.
