As our business continues to grow, we are seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to support our kitchen team and help maintain the high standards our customers expect.
About the Role
The Cook will work under the direction of the Head Chef and play an important role in the daily operation of the kitchen. The position is responsible for preparing and cooking food to established recipes, maintaining food quality and presentation standards, ensuring compliance with food safety requirements, and supporting efficient kitchen operations during busy service periods. The successful candidate will contribute to delivering a consistent dining experience while working collaboratively with the kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, cook and assemble a broad range of menu items in accordance with UR Caffe's established recipes, portion specifications and presentation standards, ensuring consistency during busy breakfast, brunch and lunch service.
- Inspect incoming food supplies and ingredients to ensure they meet the café's quality and freshness standards, reporting any items that do not meet specifications.
- Operate and monitor commercial kitchen equipment, including grills,



ovens, cooktops and fryers, adjusting cooking temperatures and times to ensure food is prepared safely and consistently.
- Prepare sauces, relishes, dressings and other food components, applying appropriate seasoning and cooking techniques to maintain the café's flavour and quality standards.
- Portion, plate and garnish meals to ensure consistency in serving sizes and presentation before service.
- Prepare and adapt meals to accommodate customer dietary requirements and food allergies while maintaining the café's quality and presentation standards.
- Store, label and rotate food items correctly in refrigerated and dry storage areas, maintaining appropriate temperatures and following stock rotation procedures to minimise spoilage and wastage.
- Carry out daily mise place and maintain clean, organised workstations to ensure efficient kitchen operations and compliance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Support the Head Chef during service by assisting with daily food preparation and providing guidance to junior kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and quality standards when required.

Requirements

- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Cook in a café, restaurant or commercial kitchen.
- Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Experience preparing breakfast, brunch and lunch meals in a rapid-paced kitchen environment.
- Knowledge of commercial food preparation techniques, food safety and kitchen hygiene practices.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining food quality and consistency.
- Strong teamwork, communication and time management skills.
- Ability to follow recipes, portion specifications and kitchen procedures.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays.
