About the Role

The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is seeking a committed Social Worker to join Watto Purrunna's Social and Emotional Wellbeing team and deliver culturally responsive support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across northern Adelaide. This is a full‑time or part‑time, fixed‑term contract through to 31 July 2027.

Responsibilities

- Providing culturally safe casework, assessment, and care coordination for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients across various NALHN sites
- Developing and maintaining partnerships with Aboriginal community‑controlled health organisations and community services in the northern Adelaide region
- Advocating for patients navigating complex health and social systems, including housing, family support, and income security
- Contributing to team‑based care planning and effective transfer of care coordination with a focus on continuity of care

Qualifications

- Tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Demonstrated experience delivering social work services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, or communities
- Strong understanding of trauma‑informed, strengths‑based practice within a health setting




- Proven ability to build trust with Aboriginal clients and community stakeholders in a culturally respectful manner
- Experience working within or alongside multidisciplinary primary health care teams
- Current SA driver's licence, as the role operates across various northern Adelaide locations

To be eligible for this position, you must have an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

About You

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a complex workplace is essential to this role.
