Our hybrid way of working gives you the flexibility to work remotely, and to come together on campus for meaningful in‑person collaboration and connection when it matters most.

What you’d be doing in this role

Your primary goal will be to uncover product opportunities that help users succeed in their goals and to influence product roadmap by demonstrating their potential impact. You will do this by:

- Data insights: Lead our data‑centric strategy by delivering actionable insights from user behaviour data and empowering product teams to make informed choices that delight customers.
- Experimenting: Design experiments to test hypotheses formulated from user research and strategic insights, analyse the results, and use them to influence next steps.
- Influencing with Metrics: Design and build goal metrics, forecast and set targets, design analytics events that track feature usage, and build them into dashboards that track performance and product usage patterns.
- Building Relationships: Engage with cross‑functional stakeholders to understand their context and goals, collaborating to gain insights into users, business value, engineering constraints,



and future opportunities.
- Providing General Data Support: Support business decision‑making by offering essential product and user context from user behaviour and feature usage data, and working out ways of making this process more efficient (e.g. via self‑serve).

You're probably a match if

- You have a proven record of influencing business and product decisions with data, directly contributing to company growth.
- You have a strong base in fundamental data‑science skills: hypothesis‑driven problem solving, SQL data wrangling, numerical thinking, designing & forecasting goal metrics, uncovering strategic insights, and storytelling with data.
- It is desirable if you have experience working with search or recommendation‑related data sets.
- You have the soft skills and personal qualities to understand the various stories user behaviour data might tell and to influence decision makers: balancing speed and accuracy, identifying biases, connecting dots between research, speaking persuasively publicly, and writing concisely.
- You have experience with other technical data‑science skills, especially experimenting, designing analytic events, and data warehousing.




- You may have a grounding in mathematics/statistics and a bachelor’s degree in a STEM area.
- You have worked in a tech company that produced a web/mobile‑based customer‑facing product before and are familiar with how a tech company operates.
- You have experience with R or Python, and have dealt with large datasets.
- You are an eager learner willing to learn new context and new ways to do things, including eagerness to use AI tools to increase productivity and impact.

About the team

You’ll be joining our Discovery data team at Canva, a core part of the Discovery Group responsible for building AI & ML models and user experiences to surface the most relevant content to users. The team partners with product, engineering and design teams to identify opportunities to improve the user experience and the search and recommendation models behind them.
