Introduction to the role
The Senior Investment Manager will be responsible for leading the day‑to‑day investment activity in Australia.
Reporting to the Investment Director of APAC, you will coordinate across Eku Energy’s teams, lead the investment analysis critical for selecting and prioritising opportunities in Australia, assess how Eku Energy maximises its return on equity capital deployed in development expenditure, and drive final investment decisions in Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Custodian of equity capital: formulate recommendations to the Managing Director and Investment Director on equity capital allocation to projects during development and recommend final investment decisions.
- Strong focus on risk and return, clearly communicating all capital allocation decisions through a risk‑and‑return framework.
- Assess value and risk management, actively contributing to managing project risks, including back‑to‑back risk positions in revenue and EPC and O&M; arrangements.
- Relationship management: develop strong relationships with key stakeholders including advisers, due diligence providers, lenders, capital providers and the market, including government and regulatory bodies.
- Country‑level and project funding strategy: develop and execute equity and debt funding plans for Australia that maximise value for the Company, including equity sell‑downs, funding partnerships, acquisitions and divestments of projects (development, construction and operating).
- Internal reporting and analytics:
monitor and measure returns in real time on devex and equity investments to enable rapid decision‑making.
- Leadership and coordination: facilitate open and explicit communication across business units to ensure that all teams understand priorities and how they maximise value for the Company.
- Track record in executing complex transactions: make key judgements on transactions and ensure effective transaction execution.
- Origination and opportunity selection (optional): responsible for opportunity selection and origination strategies (organic projects, acquisitions, partnerships), setting project priorities and resource allocation to maximise value.
Competencies of the role
- 8‑10 years of relevant investment experience.
- Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in a relevant field.
- Ability to work globally across time zones in the UK, Europe, Australia and Japan.
- Action‑oriented and outcomes driven: empowered to drive outcomes in a small high‑performance team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to obtain and provide relevant information in a timely and meaningful way across functions.
- Strong relationship‑management skills.
