About the Role:
This role is part of the Department of Education's Wellbeing Workforce, delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions to students and families with mild to moderate mental health concerns. You'll also play a vital role in connecting families to external services and empowering them to support their child's emotional development.
Your Opportunity:
Social Workers provide evidence-based therapeutic support to students with mild to moderate mental health needs, including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, crisis and relationship concerns.
Assess student wellbeing and mental health needs to inform appropriate interventions
Deliver individual and group counselling and therapeutic supports to students and families
Provide support and ensure safety plans within the school context are implemented for students who are self-harming and/or at risk of suicide
Apply knowledge of the mental health continuum to identify when external support is required and facilitate referrals to community agencies
Work collaboratively with school leadership and student support teams to inform student support planning, and provide advice to teachers supporting students' mental health in the classroom
Develop referral and case management processes to support delivery of the service
Coordinate referrals, contribute to case management processes, and liaise with external stakeholders
Provide advice and guidance to families to support student wellbeing
Support school communities following critical incidents and emergencies as part of the school response team
