About Fluid in Motion
Fluid in Motion is a WA-owned hydraulic and mechanical services company based in Cockburn Central, servicing the oil and gas, mining, construction, earthmoving, marine, maritime, offshore and industrial sectors.
With over 20 years’ industry experience, we design, manufacture, install, service, repair and commission hydraulic and lubrication systems to suit customer requirements. Our work includes workshop repairs, field service, hose and fittings, shutdown support, offshore works, marine hydraulics, hydraulic power units, cylinders, valves, pumps, motors, winches, subsea tooling and general hydraulic troubleshooting.
Due to continued growth, we are currently seeking an experienced Hydraulic Technician / Mechanical Fitter to join our team.
The Role
This is a hands-on role covering a wide variety of workshop, site, shutdown, marine and offshore hydraulic work. The successful applicant will be involved in both planned and breakdown works, with opportunities to work across Perth metro, regional Western Australia and offshore projects.
We are looking for someone who is motivated, safety-focused, technically capable and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Duties Will Include
- Manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning of hydraulic systems and equipment.
- Hydraulic hose manufacture, hose replacement, hose routing, hose tagging and fitting identification.
- Workshop and onsite hose and fittings support.
- Servicing, fault finding and repair of hydraulic systems.
- Installation and maintenance of marine and offshore hydraulic systems.
- Workshop overhaul and testing of hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, valves, manifolds and HPUs.
- Site-based breakdown support and hydraulic troubleshooting.
- Shutdown work across mining, industrial, marine and oil and gas sectors.
- Offshore work opportunities for suitably ticketed personnel.
- Installation and commissioning of hydraulic mobile equipment and fixed plant systems.
- Reading hydraulic schematics and assisting with system diagnostics.
- Pressure testing and commissioning in accordance with company and customer requirements.
- Customer liaison and professional representation of Fluid in Motion on site.
- Working to high quality, safety and environmental standards.
- Completing job cards, service reports, inspection records and test documentation.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Mechanical trade certificate or equivalent recognised trade qualification.
- Current Australian driver’s licence.
- Ability to provide a current National Police Clearance prior to commencement.
- Strong hydraulic service, repair and fault-finding experience.
- Experience making hydraulic hoses and identifying hydraulic fittings.
- Experience with pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, manifolds, HPUs and hydraulic systems.
- Full Australian working rights.
- Ability to work unsupervised and make practical decisions in the field.
- Strong safety focus and understanding of OHS / WHS requirements.
- Valuable communication and customer service skills.
- Strong work ethic and proactive approach.
Advantageous but Not Essential
- Offshore experience and current offshore tickets.
- MSIC, BOSIET / FOET, confined space, working at heights, high-risk or site access tickets.
- Experience in marine hydraulics.
- Experience with shutdown works.
- Experience with subsea, ROV, LARS, winch or deck equipment.
- Experience with stainless tube, hose assemblies and hydraulic installation work.
- Forklift, dogging, rigging or crane tickets.
- Exposure to mining, oil and gas, maritime or industrial maintenance environments.
