Senior Machinery Operator (Broadacre Cropping)

About the Role

Altora Ag Services is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Machinery Operator to join our broadacre cropping operation in Western Australia's Great Southern region.

This is a full-time permanent position working across our Waddikee and EDL farming aggregation, encompassing more than 15,000 hectares of dryland cropping country. Reporting to the Farm Manager, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient operation of modern broadacre cropping equipment while supporting seasonal activities and mentoring less experienced team members.

Key responsibilities include:

- Operating modern large-scale broadacre cropping machinery across all farming operations including seeding, spraying, spreading, harvesting and grain logistics.
- Operating and maintaining GPS-guided equipment to maximise productivity and accuracy.
- Supporting grain harvest operations, including transporting grain to designated receival sites.
- Performing machinery servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Undertaking general farm maintenance including water infrastructure repairs, paddock preparation, fencing works, minor earthworks and property improvements.
- Assisting with planning and execution of cropping programs and seasonal activities.
- Providing guidance and support to junior operators, casual employees and contractors when required.
- Maintaining a strong safety culture and complying with all company policies and procedures.

About Your New Location

Your new work location combines two of our farms, Waddikee and EDL, within a cropping aggregation exceeding 15,000 hectares. The farms are located between Newdegate and Ravensthorpe in Western Australia's south-eastern wheatbelt, approximately 30km from each township.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Minimum 2 years' experience operating large-scale broadacre cropping machinery in a commercial farming environment.
- Proven experience operating and maintaining modern agricultural equipment, including:




- John Deere and Case IH tractors and harvesting equipment;
- Air seeders;
- Self-propelled and trailing sprayers, including calibration and operation;
- Spreaders, deep rippers, wheel-track renovators and earthmoving equipment;
- GPS guidance and precision agriculture systems.

- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to undertake routine servicing, maintenance and minor repairs.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills.
- Confidence using in-cab technology, smartphone applications, machinery software and digital record keeping systems.
- Sound understanding of workplace health and safety responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
- Solid communication and problem-solving skills.
- Current driver's licence - HC/MC driver's licence highly regarded.
- Current Chemical User Accreditation (or willingness to obtain).
