Scotch Oakburn College is an independent, open entry day and boarding school of approximately 1,300 students from Early Learning through to Year 12, in association with the Uniting Church in Australia. Scotch Oakburn College is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher of Japanese to join our team at the Penquite Campus in Launceston. This permanent part-time position falls under the department of Languages and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the education and training sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

- Planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality Japanese language lessons that engage and inspire students.
- Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the academic and personal development of students.
- Developing and implementing effective teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students with varying abilities.
- Assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records of their achievements.
- Collaborating with colleagues to contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Japanese language curriculum.
- Participating in departmental meetings, school events,



and professional development activities as required.

The ideal candidate will possess:

- A recognised teaching qualification with relevant experience in teaching Japanese language at secondary level.
- A deep understanding of contemporary language teaching methodologies and a commitment to innovative pedagogical practices.
- Solid communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- A proactive approach to professional growth and a willingness to contribute to the vibrant life of our school community.

- Proven fluency in spoken and written Japanese
- Experience in teaching Japanese language and culture at the secondary level
- Familiarity with current language teaching methodologies and technologies

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
