The role
As our Member Engagement Officer, you'll be the friendly face of Uni Fitness, providing outstanding customer service while helping to keep our busy fitness centre operating smoothly.
Working closely with the Fitness Centre Manager, you'll play an important role in supporting our members, creating engaging experiences, and helping build a vibrant fitness community on campus.
Your responsibilities will include:
Delivering exceptional front desk and member support
Building strong relationships with members and the wider university community
Coordinating and supporting group fitness activities
Supporting and guiding casual staff
Helping maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming facility
Assisting with administration and day-to-day operations
Creating engaging social media content to promote programs, events, and offers
Supporting member engagement initiatives and campus activities
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys connecting with people, takes pride in delivering great service, leads by example, and wants to contribute to a positive health and wellbeing culture.
The position attracts a salary of between $58,920 – $70,704 + 12% super and this is a full time position with standard hours of work being:
Monday – Thursday: 11:00am – 7:00pm
Friday: 10:00am – 6:00pm
About the Student Guild
The Griffith University Gold Coast (GUGC) Student Guild is an independent, not-for-profit student association representing and supporting more than 17,000 students.
We work closely with Griffith University and community partners to create a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive campus experience.
The Guild has three divisions – Student Services, Business Services, and Commercial Services – led by our Chief Executive Officer and governed by a hybrid Board of elected student representatives and external skills-based members.

This position sits within Commercial Services, which help students thrive on campus by providing convenient, student-focused spaces and services to the University and surrounding community.
These operations – including the Uni Bar, Functions & Catering, The Uni Store, Uni Fitness, Australia Post, The Kiosk café, and a range of retail tenancies – also play a key role in supporting the Guild's financial sustainability.
Key selection criteria
Required:
Certificate III in Fitness.
Current First Aid certificate.
Current Driver's licence.
Prior experience in customer service-based role.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the fitness industry, including fitness programs and member engagement initiatives.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven experience using social media platforms to drive business engagement.
Demonstrated ability to perform basic administrative and computer-based tasks.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Understand and an ability to work within the values of the Student Guild and comply with Griffith University policies and relevant legislation within the organisation and its work.
Desired:
Certificate IV in Fitness.
Design or creative qualifications.
Experience working in a university, education, or student-focused environment.
