We are seeking an experienced Conventional / Manual Machinist for an immediate start at our Wangara manufacturing facility.
This is a temporary full-time opportunity for approximately 4-6 weeks, with the potential for extension.
We are looking for a hands-on machinist who can quickly integrate into our workshop, operate manual machinery confidently, and maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and safety.
About the Role
You will be responsible for setting up and operating conventional machinery, jigs, and fixtures to manufacture production components within an established manufacturing environment.
This is not a CNC role.
We are seeking someone with strong practical experience on traditional manual machine tools who can work independently and contribute from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate manual milling machines, centre lathes, and surface grinders.
Operate vertical bandsaws and general workshop equipment.
Use existing jigs, fixtures, and tooling for production machining.
Perform batch and repetitive machining of production components.
Adjust tooling, speeds, feeds, and machine settings as required.
Measure and inspect finished components using verniers, micrometres,



and other precision measuring equipment.
Read and interpret engineering drawings.
Maintain quality standards and dimensional accuracy.
Carry out basic machine maintenance and housekeeping.
You may be qualified:
Conventional / Manual Machinist
Fitter & Turner
Toolmaker
Trade-qualified Machinist or similar
To be successful, you will have:
Proven experience operating conventional/manual machining equipment.
Ability to work independently in a production workplace.
Robust understanding of machining processes, tooling, and measurement techniques.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Strong practical problem-solving skills.
A trade qualification in Fitting & Turning, Machining, Toolmaking, or a related discipline is preferred, although applicants with extensive industry experience are encouraged to apply.
