Events manager role that offers a rare blend of sales, event delivery and creative programming at one of North Queensland’s most iconic waterfront precincts.
We are excited to partner with this client to present an opportunity for an experienced events and business development professional to lead the functions, events and activations revenue stream at a landmark waterfront precinct in North Queensland.
This is a hybrid role, weighted around 70% operational (end-to-end event coordination and delivery) and 30% business development (converting enquiries, following up and networking). The venue generates solid enquiry volume off its reputation, so the priority is being responsive, building genuine repeat relationships, owning events from first enquiry through to delivery, and planning activations well ahead of time.
The Role
As Events Manager, you will report directly to the General Manager, take full ownership of the functions and events pipeline, and play a key role in shaping activations across the precinct.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and managing a pipeline of corporate, community and private function clients
- Converting enquiries into confirmed bookings and growing repeat and referral business
- Managing functions end to end — enquiry, proposal, quoting, contracting, run sheets, delivery and post-event review
- Coordinating with the Executive Chef and kitchen leadership team on event menus and costings
- Conceiving, costing and delivering activations (themed events, day clubs, live music, seasonal campaigns) that drive foot traffic across the precinct
- Managing supplier relationships and event partner arrangements
- Rostering and supervising casual event staff via Deputy
- Maintaining accurate pipeline, conversion and revenue reporting
This is a hands-on role, not an admin handoff to someone else for the tour or delivery.
The Ideal Candidate
This role suits a current Events or Functions Manager, with some sales experience, ready to own a revenue line and grow it in a close-knit regional market.
You will likely bring:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in event sales or event management within hospitality, venues, hotels or catering, with a demonstrable revenue record
- Proven, end-to-end ownership of events — from enquiry through to delivery and reconciliation.
- A genuinely warm, personable and proactive approach, with a strong track record of building repeat relationships
- Demonstrated creativity in originating events or activations
- Strong commercial literacy across budgets, margins, conversion metrics and reconciliation
- Current Queensland RSA (RMLV, Deputy/POS experience and Canva comfort are advantageous but not essential)
The Opportunity
- Own a high-profile functions and events revenue line at a landmark waterfront venue
- Work closely with ownership and senior management on commercial and creative direction
- Backed by a strong Executive Chef and events team to support menu and package creation
- Competitive salary package, up to $110,000+ super, plus up to 20% performance bonus, plus relocation support
- Strong long-term opportunity within a growing regional hospitality precinct
