Role Description
We are seeking an analytical, detail-oriented, and highly structured Assistant Accountant / Accountant / Senior Accountant to oversee and elevate our organizational accounting operations. In this pivotal financial role, you will be responsible for maintaining ledger integrity, leading month-end and year-end close procedures, preparing accurate financial statements, and driving compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory frameworks. Working closely with Finance Managers, Financial Controllers, Internal Audit, and executive stakeholders, you will bridge routine transactional accounting with strategic financial analysis.
Responsibilities include managing complex general ledger reconciliations, controlling fixed assets and accruals, conducting variance analyses against operational budgets, overseeing tax filings (e.g., corporate tax, VAT/GST), and coordinating annual external audit engagements. Success in this position requires a rigorous technical grasp of accounting principles, advanced numerical and analytical agility, proficiency in enterprise accounting systems, and the leadership capacity to streamline controls and ensure robust financial governance.
Qualifications
- Education & Skilled Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; active professional accounting designation or advanced progress toward one (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CA, CIMA, or CMA) is required.
- Financial Reporting & Closing Management: Proven track record of managing end-to-end month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closures, including journal entries, trial balance verification, and financial statement preparation (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement).
- Accounting Standards & Regulatory Compliance:
Comprehensive technical knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, or local statutory accounting frameworks, ensuring all policies, revenue recognition practices, and reporting adhere to regulatory standards.
- ERP & Advanced Financial Systems: Advanced working knowledge of enterprise financial management systems and ERPs (e.g., SAP, Oracle Financials, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Xero, or QuickBooks Enterprise).
- Complex Reconciliations & Audit Coordination: Mastery in performing high-level balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, and preparing audit-ready schedules; experience serving as a primary liaison for external and internal auditors.
- Taxation & Treasury Operations: Practical expertise in preparing and reviewing indirect and direct tax returns (e.g., VAT, GST, Sales Tax, Corporate Income Tax), alongside monitoring daily cash flow positions and bank treasury allocations.
- Financial Analysis & Variance Reporting: Advanced numerical and diagnostic skills to analyze operational budget variances, perform trend analysis, and deliver insightful commentary to management for decision-making.
- Advanced Spreadsheet Modeling: Expert command of Microsoft Excel (complex logic formulas, XLOOKUP, Index/Match, Pivot Tables, financial modeling, and macro/VBA familiarity) for automated reconciliations and dynamic reporting.
- Communication & Business Partnering: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex accounting concepts into clear operational context for non-finance managers and department heads.
