Role Description The Owner role at BWS Ballarat, VIC is a full-time, in office position responsible for leading store operations and delivering an exceptional customer experience. Daily activities include overseeing sales, inventory, and merchandising, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
The Owner manages and develops the store team through coaching, performance feedback, and scheduling, while fostering an inclusive and high-energy culture that reflects BWS values. The role also involves building strong relationships with local customers and the community,
monitoring financial performance, and implementing initiatives to drive growth and profitability. This position requires hands-on involvement in the store, including serving customers, resolving issues, and supporting peak trading times.
Qualifications
- Experience in retail or hospitality leadership, including managing day-to-day store operations, teams, and budgets.
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to create welcoming in-store experiences and build lasting relationships with local communities.
- Capability in inventory management, merchandising, and basic financial analysis to optimize sales and profitability.
- Proficiency in people management, including recruitment, training, performance coaching, and fostering an inclusive team culture.
- Knowledge of responsible service of alcohol regulations and a commitment to safe, compliant store practices (RSA certification or willingness to obtain).
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort with using retail systems and digital tools for point-of-sale, reporting, and stock management.
- Previous multi-site retail experience, ownership or franchise management, and business or management qualifications are beneficial.
