About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Plant Mechanical Trainer & Assessor to join our team. This role is ideal for an experienced plant mechanic who is passionate about developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople through high-quality vocational education and training. You will deliver and assess nationally recognised qualifications in plant mechanical technology, supporting apprentices, trainees, and industry participants to develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, and safe work practices required in the heavy equipment, mining, construction, and earthmoving industries.

Key Responsibilities - Deliver engaging classroom, workshop, and workplace-based training and assessment.

- Assess learner competency in accordance with nationally recognised training products and RTO requirements.
- Develop and maintain training and assessment resources and practical learning activities.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback to learners.
- Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate training and assessment records.
- Ensure compliance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), organisational policies, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Promote safe work practices and industry best practice in plant maintenance and repair.
- Participate in validation, moderation, continuous improvement, and professional development activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, apprentices, and industry stakeholders.





Essential Requirements - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent).

- Relevant trade qualification in Plant Mechanical Technology or a related heavy vehicle/mobile plant mechanical discipline, at least to the level being delivered and assessed.
- Demonstrated recent industry experience maintaining and repairing mobile plant and heavy equipment.
- Sound knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, powertrains, electrical systems, and fault-finding techniques.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety legislation and protected work practices.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Current driver’s licence. Desirable - Experience delivering training within the Australian VET sector.
- Experience working with apprentices and trainees.
- Current Construction Induction (White Card).
- High Risk Work Licence (e.g. Forklift, Dogging, Rigging or Elevated Work Platform).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience in mining, civil construction, or heavy equipment maintenance.
- Experience using learning management systems and digital training technologies.
