About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for Rearing Farm Manager at our Rearing facility based in Gurrundah NSW. The successful applicants must be prepared to work directly with livestock, after hours and on weekends. A Company house on site will be provided to the successful applicant.
Reporting to the Breeder Division Manager, you will be required to manage all aspects of the day-to-day operations as well as use sustainable livestock management practices to develop and implement appropriate strategies that meet longer-term production goals and deliver incremental gains towards profitability, efficiency and quality.
Reporting to the Breeder Division Manager, this role will see you responsible for, but not limited to:
- Breeding and raising livestock
- Monitoring and maintaining the health and condition of livestock
- Moving livestock to optimise feeding opportunities
- Organising and conducting farming operations such as catching, sterilising machines, and collecting, grading and packaging produce
- Directing and overseeing general farming activities such as maintaining sheds
- Maintaining fences, equipment and water supply systems
- Organising transportation of livestock and produce
- Maintaining and evaluating records of farming activities, monitoring market activity and planning production accordingly
- Recruit, train and supervise staff and contractors
- Management of the day-to-day operation of the farm aimed at delivering optimum performance of the flock
- Ability to oversee and supervise staffing requirements and prioritising of workload
- Proficiently operate all machinery, plant and equipment
- Monitor feed management and bird collection
- Daily shed servicing and grounds maintenance
- Weekly accurate weighing of birds
- Ensure accurate record keeping
- Manage contract vaccination crews and grading crews
- Monitor animal welfare and production quality
- Respond to alarms on site at any time of the day or night
- Understand WH&S; practices
- Follow company policies on animal welfare, environmental standards, and biosecurity
- Have the ability to analyse and improve the overall efficiency of the operation
Skills and Experience
- A Relevant Bachelor's Degree
- A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in the poultry industry in either a supervisory or managerial role.
- You must be able to work both independently and as a team and be committed to providing sustainable livestock management practices.
- You will be able to demonstrate your effective communication and leadership skills, as well as your commitment to the support, development and positive engagement of your team.
- Self-managing and proactive, you must have a good working knowledge of WH & S requirements and be efficient with excellent site management capabilities, ensuring all quality and maintenance standards are upheld.
