Description

As a Senior Legal Counsel - Public Equity Markets , you'll provide specialist legal advice and services across investment activities, with a primary focus on supporting our Growth (Public Equity) team. You'll work closely with investment professionals and senior stakeholders, helping deliver strategic investment outcomes while managing legal and reputational risk.
You'll play a key role in reviewing and assessing complex equity investments and capital markets activities, advising on legal risks, supporting investment strategies, and implementing frameworks that strengthen governance and compliance. Your expertise will help ensure our investment activities remain aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.
Responsibilities Day to day, you'll:
- Provide timely, accurate and commercially focused legal advice on investment activities.
- Lead legal review and assessment of complex equity investments, placements, sub-underwriting opportunities and other capital markets transactions.
- Advise on legal risks and strategic considerations relating to Australian equity investment strategies.
- Support and enhance inside information and restricted trading barrier frameworks and processes.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across Investments and other business areas on critical projects and transactions.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and provide guidance on emerging impacts.
Qualifications It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:
- You hold a tertiary qualification in Law and a current unrestricted Australian practising certificate.
- Your experience includes extensive corporate, ECM, public markets or investment legal work gained within a law firm, investment bank or comparable setting.
- You'll have demonstrated success leading negotiations on complex, high-value matters.
- You're highly skilled in drafting, influencing and stakeholder management across multiple levels of an organisation.
- You have experience partnering with business teams to deliver critical projects and transactions.
- Your ability to provide concise, practical advice on technical and legislative matters is highly developed.
- You'll be confident building relationships with senior stakeholders and providing strategic legal guidance.
