The Stores Officer, as part of the stores team, provides a purchasing service for Tasmania Prison Service and a canteen service for prisoners, in accordance with the Government Procurement requirements and processes.

This role is a permanent, day work position working 73.50 hours per fortnight.

Salary of $69,593 to $74,837 per annum. Starting salary negotiable within range subject to experience in a similar role. Annual salary increases within this range in accordance with the Tasmanian State Service Award and Public Service Union Wages Agreement.

Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has prison facilities located at Risdon Vale, Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania. This position is based at Risdon Vale. The Risdon Vale site offers a corporate working environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre offices, free on-site parking and access to the on-site staff gym (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time).

Duties

- Perform tasks associated with the purchase of goods and services for the Tasmania Prison Service (TPS), including communication and liaison with clients and suppliers.
- Responsible for the receipt, checking and storage of goods.
- Plan delivery of goods received throughout the TPS sites state wide.
- Maintain stock control systems within the Prison Store.
- Packaging and delivery of canteen orders to inmates as required.
- Supervision of prisoner labour within the TPS store.
- The incumbent may be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying jobs at this classification level.
- Previous experience in a prison environment or similar.
