Job Description

Townsville Enterprise is seeking a proactive and passionate Tourism Recovery & Resilience Officer to support the recovery, growth and long-term resilience of the region's visitor economy.

As part of the Visitor Economy and Marketing team, you will be the key link between Townsville Enterprise and the regional tourism industry. Working directly with tourism operators, you will provide practical support to businesses recovering from the 2025 flooding events, while helping build a stronger, more capable and competitive tourism sector for the future.

This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys working with people, building relationships and turning opportunities into action.

This position is jointly funded through the Australian and Queensland Governments' Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) and Townsville Enterprise.

About the role

You will work closely with tourism operators and industry stakeholders to:

- Support tourism businesses to access recovery funding, government programs and other opportunities.
- Develop and deliver initiatives that build business resilience, capability and industry readiness.
- Identify opportunities for product diversification and new markets, including educational tourism and agritourism.
- Connect local operators with destination marketing opportunities and help them maximise their participation.
- Support trade education, export readiness and destination training programs.
- Coordinate industry communications, including newsletters, updates and information sharing.
- Manage familiarisation visits and assist with the development of itineraries and trade opportunities.
- Provide practical advice and support to operators on funding, marketing, trade and industry development opportunities.
- Develop resources and contribute to strategies that strengthen the long‑term resilience and competitiveness of the tourism sector.
- Monitor and report on initiatives, outcomes and industry progress.

About the Candidate





You will be a relationship‑focused and solutions‑oriented professional with experience in tourism, industry development, marketing or business support.

- Strong relationship‑building and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to work confidently with a diverse range of businesses and stakeholders.
- Experience in project coordination, program delivery or industry development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to identify opportunities, solve problems and provide practical support.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills.
- An understanding of tourism, destination marketing, trade, business resilience or regional economic development.
- A proactive, collaborative and hands‑on approach.
