Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene (or equivalent) that is recognised by the Dental Board of Australia
Registration with the Dental Board of Australia (AHPRA)
Tasks & responsibilities
Diagnose and treat periodontal conditions, including taking a health history and dental charting
Provide dental care for children and adolescents including examining oral and dental conditions, restore and conserve permanent and deciduous teeth, perform extractions of deciduous teeth. With adult scope, would be able to provide care to adults under certain circumstances
Work in partnership with the dentists in diagnosis and treatment planning of patients to maintain or restore oral health
Administer local anaesthetic, dental radiographs and digital scans
Assist in providing orthodontic treatment (braces and explicit aligners) - training provided
Communicate and educate patients on oral hygiene and prevention strategies
Supervisory and training responsibilities to dental assistants
Dental Hygienist applications are considered too.
We are a growing practice, using State-of-the-art Dental Operatory Equipment & Design e.g. Digital Radiography (including in-house OPG unit), Intraoral Cameras, Digital Scanner.
