Overview
This is a temporary Special Skills Term position (0.5 FTE in the SSP and 0.5 FTE in Emergency Medicine) at Wyong Public Hospital Emergency Department.
The term can be undertaken for six or twelve months with capacity for one trainee.
There is 1:1 supervision by the primary supervisor.
The trainee should be in the final stage of the FACEM training program (TS3 or TS4).
Term structure and eligibility
The term is ACEM-accredited and aligned with the SSP guidelines.
It involves a curriculum of modules delivered face-to-face with pre-reading, peer discussion, and reflective practice.
The trainee will gain experience in clinical teaching and supervision across a range of settings, from bedside teaching to lectures and simulated learning (SIM lab).
Responsibilities
Deliver teaching to medical students, JMOs, Registrars, and allied health staff in diverse clinical settings.
Participate in teaching activities across bedside, lecture theatre, and SIM lab environments.
Complete an educational project involving the original authorship and execution of a high-caliber, multimodal training resource for the department.
Maintain a reflective portfolio documenting learning and experiences during the term (in any medium).
Adhere to the SSP guidelines with a roster centered on the SSP and clinically around SSP duties, with a dedicated desk in the Staff Specialist office space.
Qualifications and expectations
Trainee in the final stages of the FACEM program (TS3 or TS4).
Interest in medical education and ability to work across a range of teaching modalities.
